Parking lots are located just north of the campus on 5th Street\, or on the south side of the campus (entrance on 4th Street). The GWS auditorium is the largest building in the center of the campus. Main doors face Euclid Avenue. There are accessible entrances (ramps)  on both the north and south side of the building.

Originally conceived as a small-scale vocal entertainment for children\, Hansel and Gretel resonates with both adults and children\, and has become one of the most successful fairy-tale operas ever created. The composer\, Engelbert Humperdinck\, was a protégé of Richard Wagner’s\, and the opera’s score is flavored with the sophisticated musical lessons he learned from his idol while maintaining a charm and a light touch that were entirely Humperdinck’s own. The opera acknowledges the darker features present in the Brothers Grimm version of the familiar folk tale yet presents them within a frame of grace and humor. The School of Performing Arts production features exciting visuals\, a full orchestra\, and the wonderful voices of talented U of R students! \nSynopsis: Once upon a time a poor broom maker and his wife lived in a small cottage in the mountains with their son\, Hansel\, and their daughter\, Gretel.When our story begins\, Hansel and Gretel’s parents have traveled to a neighboring village to sell brooms\, leaving the children at home to do their chores. But work is tiresome\, and soon Hansel and Gretel begin dancing to fill the time\, and to take their minds off of their hungry stomachs. Suddenly\, Hansel and Gretel’s mother returns home weary from her long trip\, and scolds the children for playing instead of doing their chores. In her frustration\, she sends her children out into the woods to gather strawberries for their super.\nWhile in the woods\, Hansel and Gretel meet a witch who is planning to shove the children into her oven and bake them into gingerbread. The witch tells Gretel to look in the oven to see if the gingerbread is ready\, but Gretel pretends not to understand\, and when the witch tries to show Gretel how it’s done\, Hansel and Gretel quickly shove the witch into the oven\, close the door\, and celebrate their victory.\nSuddenly we see Hansel and Gretel’s parents\, who have been searching for their children all night. DESCRIPTION:Amahl returns to Ontario! “Shepherds\, Arise!” (People of Greater Ontario and the Inland Empire – come and see!) Amahl and the Night Visitors will be performed Bethel Congregational Church. \nOpera “newbies”  and aficionados alike will rejoice in the chance to experience this joint production of  Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors\, presented by the Southland Symphony Orchestra and Chorus of Ontario. \nAmahl is a family-friendly opera and has been enduringly popular since its premier in 1951. Commissioned by NBC as the first opera written for television\, Amahl and the Night Visitors debuted on December 24\, 1951 becoming the first network television Christmas special to become an annual tradition. Composer Gian Carlo Menotti drew inspiration for the opera from Hieronymus Bosch’s The Adoration of the Magi\, which hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, and from his childhood in Italy where gifts were brought at Christmas by the Three Kings instead of Santa Claus. \nFeaturing  outstanding principal vocalists in collaboration with the Southland Symphony Orchestra\, this live\, in-person performance will showcase some of the finest singers in Southern California. Their great vocal skill and dramatic ability and deeply immerse the audience in the action of the story. \n“We are thrilled with this production of Amahl and are so very proud of our outstanding principal singers\, chorus\, and orchestra”\, says Dr. Sylvia Lee Mann\, who is the Music Director & Conductor of the Southland Symphony\, and the Pastor of Bethel Congregational Church. Dr. Mann leads the musical production\, and Michal Dawson Connor\, is the artistic/stage director with the spirited cast of talented vocalists. Dr. Mann and Mr. Connor are working together with the chorus preparation – this promises to be a FABULOUS AMAHL! \nThis production of Amahl and the Night Visitors features Kyla Page Williams as the Mother; Lee Conger as King Kaspar; Phil Meyer as King Melchior; Michal Dawson Connor as King Balthazar; Also featuring Eli Katz as the Page\, and Joseph Hu as Amahl. The Shepherd’s Chorus includes members of the Southland Symphony Orchestra Chorus. \nAmahl and the Night Visitors tells the story of Amahl\, a shepherd boy who has a propensity to tell tall tales\, and his mother.
